(17)And Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples apart; and in the way he said to them: (18)Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, (19)and will deliver him to the Gentiles to mock and scourge and crucify; and on the third day he will rise again. (20)Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, bowing down and asking a certain thing of him. (21)And he said to her: What wilt thou? She says to him: Command that these my two sons shall sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left, in thy kingdom. (22)But Jesus answering said: Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of? They say to him: We are able. (23)And he says to them: Ye shall drink indeed of my cup; but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but is for them for whom it has been prepared by my Father. (24)And the ten, hearing it, were much displeased with the two brothers. (25)But Jesus, having called them to him, said: Ye know that the rulers of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and they that are great exercise authority over them. (26)Not so shall it be among you; (27)but whoever would become great among you, let him be your minister; and whoever would be first among you, let him be your servant; (28)even as the Son of man came not to be ministered to, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (29)And as they were going forth from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. (30)And behold, two blind men sitting by the way-side, hearing that Jesus was passing by, cried, saying: Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David. (31)And the multitude rebuked them, that they should hold their peace. But they cried the more, saying: Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David. (32)And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said: What will ye that I shall do to you? (33)They say to him: Lord, that our eyes may be opened. (34)And Jesus, moved with compassion, touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes received sight; and they followed him. XXI. AND when they drew near to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the mount of the Olives, Jesus sent forth two disciples, (2)saying to them: Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye will find an ass tied, and a colt with her; loose and bring them to me. (3)And if any one say aught to you, ye shall say: The Lord has need of them; and straightway he will send them. (4)Now all this has been done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying: (5)Say to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King comes to thee, Meek, and mounted upon an ass, And upon a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.
