Sept. 1st.—Mr. Shelly attended the Corporation meeting and insisted on reading a protest in respect of the non-attendance of that body to their “ordinance.” The following officers were then elected:— Mayor-Elect—John Preston, Esq. Sept. 8th.—The Coronation Day was observed as a holiday. The Races had been held on the 6th and 7th, as follows:— “FIRST DAY—Tuesday, September 6th.
