Life
Methodius (c. 815–885), brother and collaborator of Cyril, continued their mission after Cyril's death, consecrated archbishop for the Slavs. He persevered against hostility from Frankish clergy who opposed the Slavonic liturgy — enduring imprisonment — and is credited with completing much of the translation of the Bible and church texts into Old Church Slavonic. With his brother he shaped the religious and literary heritage of the Slavic world.
