John Shaqi

قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) لَا تُعَلِّمُوا نِسَاءَكُمْ سُورَةَ يُوسُفَ وَ لَا تُقْرِءُوهُنَّ إِيَّاهَا فَإِنَّ فِيهَا الْفِتَنَ وَ عَلِّمُوهُنَّ سُورَةَ النُّورِ فَإِنَّ فِيهَا الْمَوَاعِظَ .


Translation

A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ali Bin Asbaat, from his uncle Yaqoub Bin Salim, raising it, said, ‘Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Do not teach your womenfolk <span class="iTxt">Surah Yusuf</span> (Chapter 12) nor recite it to them, for therein is the strife, and teach them <span class="iTxt">Surah Al Noor</span> (Chapter 24), for therein is the advice’.
