John Shaqi

سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْجَرَادِ نُصِيبُهُ مَيِّتاً فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ أَوْ فِي الْمَاءِ أَ يُؤْكَلُ فَقَالَ لَا تَأْكُلْهُ قَالَ وَ سَأَلْتُهُ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الدَّبَا مِنَ الْجَرَادِ أَ يُؤْكَلُ قَالَ لَا حَتَّى يَسْتَقِلَّ بِالطَّيَرَانِ .


Translation

Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Al Amraky Bin Ali, (It has been narrated) from Ali son of Ja’far<sup>asws</sup>, from his brother<sup>asws</sup> Abu Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about the locust which are found dead in the desert, or in the water, can one eat?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Do not eat it’. He (the narrator) said, ‘And I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about <span class="iTxt">Al-Dabba</span> from the locusts, can one eat?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘No, until it is flying around with the birds’.
