سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ الْأَرْضُ غَيْرَ الْأَرْضِ قَالَ تُبَدَّلُ خُبْزَةً نَقِيَّةً يَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا النَّاسُ حَتَّى يَفْرُغُوا مِنَ الْحِسَابِ فَقَالَ لَهُ قَائِلٌ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي شُغُلٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ الْأَكْلِ وَ الشُّرْبِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ خَلَقَ ابْنَ آدَمَ أَجْوَفَ وَ لَا بُدَّ لَهُ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ وَ الشَّرَابِ أَ هُمْ أَشَدُّ شُغُلًا يَوْمَئِذٍ أَمْ مَنْ فِي النَّارِ فَقَدِ اسْتَغَاثُوا وَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَقُولُ وَ إِنْ يَسْتَغِيثُوا يُغاثُوا بِماءٍ كَالْمُهْلِ يَشْوِي الْوُجُوهَ بِئْسَ الشَّرابُ .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Abu Abdullah, from al Wasim Bin Urwat, from Abdullah Bin Bukeyr, from Zurara who said, ‘I asked Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:14#h48"><a href="/books/quran:14#h48">[14:48]</a></a> The Day when the earth shall be Changed into a different earth</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘It would be changed into pure bread. The people would be eating from it until they are free from the Reckoning’. So a speaker said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘They would be in an occupation on that Day (too pre-occupied) from the eating and the drinking’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Created the son of Adam<sup>as</sup> as hollow, and there is no escape for him from the food and the drink. Would they be in a more intense occupation on that Day or the ones in the Fire? So they would be crying for it, and Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic is Saying <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:18#h29"><a href="/books/quran:18#h29">[18:29]</a></a> and if they cry for water, they shall be given water like molten brass which will scald their faces; evil is the drink</span>’.
