كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ) إِذَا وُضِعَ الطَّعَامُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا مِنْ مَنِّكَ وَ فَضْلِكَ وَ عَطَائِكَ فَبَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَ سَوِّغْنَاهُ وَ ارْزُقْنَا خَلَفاً إِذَا أَكَلْنَاهُ وَ رُبَّ مُحْتَاجٍ إِلَيْهِ رَزَقْتَ فَأَحْسَنْتَ اللَّهُمَّ وَ اجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ فَإِذَا رُفِعَ الْخِوَانُ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي حَمَلَنَا فِي الْبَرِّ وَ الْبَحْرِ وَ رَزَقَنَا مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَ فَضَّلَنَا عَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ تَفْضِيلًا .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Abu Abdullah, from Muhammad Bin Abdullah, from Amro Al Mutattab, from Abu Yahya Al Sana’any, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>: ‘Ali<sup>asws</sup> Bin Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup>, whenever the meal was placed in front of him<sup>asws</sup>, said: ‘O Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! This is from You<sup>azwj</sup>, and Your<sup>azwj</sup> Grace, and Your<sup>azwj</sup> Grant. Therefore, Bless for us in it, and Make it pleasant for us, and Sustain us afterwards when we have eaten it, those who are needy for it You<sup>azwj</sup> have Sustained them, so You<sup>azwj</sup> Favoured. O Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, and Make us to be from the grateful ones’. So when the meal is raised, he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The Praise is for Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Who Carried us in the land and the sea, and Sustained us from the good things, and Graced us upon abundance from His<sup>azwj</sup> creatures, with abundant Grace’.
