قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) لِأَبِي يَا بَشِيرُ بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ تُدَاوُونَ مَرْضَاكُمْ فَقَالَ بِهَذِهِ الْأَدْوِيَةِ الْمِرَارِ فَقَالَ لَهُ لَا إِذَا مَرِضَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَخُذِ السُّكَّرَ الْأَبْيَضَ فَدُقَّهُ وَ صُبَّ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ الْبَارِدَ وَ اسْقِهِ إِيَّاهُ فَإِنَّ الَّذِي جَعَلَ الشِّفَاءَ فِي الْمَرَارَةِ قَادِرٌ أَنْ يَجْعَلَهُ فِي الْحَلَاوَةِ .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Abu Abdullah, from a number of our companions, from Ali Bin Asbaat, from Yahya Bin Bashir Al Nabbal who said, ‘Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> to my father: ‘A Bashir! By which thing are you curing your sick ones?’ So he said, ‘By these bitter medicines’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said to him: ‘No. When one of you is sick, so take the white sugar, pound it and pour the cold water over it, make him drink it, for the One Who<sup>azwj</sup> Made the healing to be in the bitter is Able to Make it to be in the sweet’.
