John Shaqi

حَدَّثَنِي مَنْ أَكَلَ مَعَ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الْأَوَّلِ ( عليه السلام ) هَرِيسَةً بِالْجَاوَرْسِ وَ قَالَ أَمَا إِنَّهُ طَعَامٌ لَيْسَ فِيهِ ثِقَلٌ وَ لَا لَهُ غَائِلَةٌ وَ إِنَّهُ أَعْجَبَنِي فَأَمَرْتُ أَنْ يُتَّخَذَ لِي وَ هُوَ بِاللَّبَنِ أَنْفَعُ وَ أَلْيَنُ فِي الْمَعِدَةِ .


Translation

A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ayoub Bin Nuh who said, ‘The one who ate <span class="iTxt">Hareys</span> with Abu Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup> the 1<sup>st</sup>, (has) narrated to me with the Finger-millet and (he<sup>asws</sup>) said, ‘But, it is a food in which there is no heaviness, nor is there any painful suffering for it, and I<sup>asws</sup> like it, therefore I<sup>asws</sup> instructed that it should be taken for me<sup>asws</sup> and it is beneficial with the milk, and soft in the stomach’.
