لَمَّا قَدِمَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) الْحِيرَةَ رَكِبَ دَابَّتَهُ وَ مَضَى إِلَى الْخَوَرْنَقِ فَنَزَلَ فَاسْتَظَلَّ بِظِلِّ دَابَّتِهِ وَ مَعَهُ غُلَامٌ لَهُ أَسْوَدُ فَرَأَى رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ قَدِ اشْتَرَى نَخْلًا فَقَالَ لِلْغُلَامِ مَنْ هَذَا فَقَالَ لَهُ هَذَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ( عليه السلام ) فَجَاءَ بِطَبَقٍ ضَخْمٍ فَوَضَعَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ لِلرَّجُلِ مَا هَذَا فَقَالَ هَذَا الْبَرْنِيُّ فَقَالَ فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ وَ نَظَرَ إِلَى السَّابِرِيِّ فَقَالَ مَا هَذَا فَقَالَ السَّابِرِيُّ فَقَالَ هَذَا عِنْدَنَا الْبِيضُ وَ قَالَ لِلْمُشَانِ مَا هَذَا فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ الْمُشَانُ فَقَالَ ( عليه السلام ) هَذَا عِنْدَنَا أُمُّ جِرْذَانَ وَ نَظَرَ إِلَى الصَّرَفَانِ فَقَالَ مَا هَذَا فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ الصَّرَفَانُ فَقَالَ هُوَ عِنْدَنَا الْعَجْوَةُ وَ فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ .


Translation

Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Ahmad Bin Is’haq, and Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Muhammad Bin Ismail, altogether from Sa’dan Bin Muslim, from one of our companions who said, ‘ When Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> proceeded to Al-Hira, he<sup>asws</sup> rode his<sup>asws</sup> animal, and went to <span class="iTxt">Al-Khowrank</span>. So he<sup>asws</sup> descended and took shade with the shadow of his<sup>asws</sup> animal, and with him<sup>asws</sup> was a black slave of his<sup>asws</sup>. So he<sup>asws</sup> a man from the people of Al-Kufa who had bought a palm tree said to the slave: ‘Who is this one?’ So he said to him, ‘This is Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> Bin Muhammad<sup>asws</sup>’. So he came with a huge platter (of various dates) and placed it in front of him<sup>asws</sup>. So he<sup>asws</sup> said to the man: ‘What is this?’ He said, ‘This is <span class="iTxt">Al-Barny</span> (dates)’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Therein is a healing’, and he<sup>asws</sup> looked at <span class="iTxt">Al-Sabiriyya</span> (dates), so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘What is this?’ So he said, ‘<span class="iTxt">Al-Sabiriyya</span>’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘With us this is (called) <span class="iTxt">Al-Bayz</span>’. An he<sup>asws</sup> said for <span class="iTxt">Al-Mushan</span> (dates): ‘What is this?’ So the man said, ‘<span class="iTxt">Al-Mushan</span> (dates)’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘This, with us is (called) <span class="iTxt">Umm Jirzan</span>’. And he<sup>asws</sup> looked at <span class="iTxt">Al-Safran</span>, so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘What is this?’ So the man said, ‘<span class="iTxt">Al-Sarfan</span>’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘With us it is (called) <span class="iTxt">Al-Ajwa</span> and therein is a healing’.
