دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ فِي يَدِهِ رُمَّانَةٌ فَقَالَ يَا مُعَتِّبُ أَعْطِهِ رُمَّانَةً فَإِنِّي لَمْ أُشْرَكْ فِي شَيْءٍ أَبْغَضَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أُشْرَكَ فِي رُمَّانَةٍ ثُمَّ احْتَجَمَ وَ أَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَحْتَجِمَ فَاحْتَجَمْتُ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِرُمَّانَةٍ أُخْرَى ثُمَّ قَالَ يَا يَزِيدُ أَيُّمَا مُؤْمِنٍ أَكَلَ رُمَّانَةً حَتَّى يَسْتَوْفِيَهَا أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الشَّيْطَانَ عَنْ إِنَارَةِ قَلْبِهِ أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحاً وَ مَنْ أَكَلَ اثْنَتَيْنِ أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الشَّيْطَانَ عَنْ إِنَارَةِ قَلْبِهِ مِائَةَ يَوْمٍ وَ مَنْ أَكَلَ ثَلَاثاً حَتَّى يَسْتَوْفِيَهَا أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ الشَّيْطَانَ عَنْ إِنَارَةِ قَلْبِهِ سَنَةً وَ مَنْ أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ الشَّيْطَانَ عَنْ إِنَارَةِ قَلْبِهِ سَنَةً لَمْ يُذْنِبْ وَ مَنْ لَمْ يُذْنِبْ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, and Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, altogether from Muhammad Bin Ismail Bin Bazie, from Salih Bin Uqba, from Yazeed Bin Abdul Malik Al Nowfaly who said, ‘I went over to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> and in his<sup>asws</sup> hand was a Pomegranate, so he<sup>asws</sup> said to me: ‘O Mo’tab! Give him a Pomegranate, for there is nothing more hateful to me<sup>asws</sup> in letting someone participating in something than letting him participate in a Pomegranate’. Then he<sup>asws</sup> had cupping done and ordered me that I should get cupping done. So I had cupping done. Then he<sup>asws</sup> called for another Pomegranate, then said: ‘O Yazeed! But rather, a Believer eats a Pomegranate until he completes eating it, Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Sends the Satan<sup>la</sup> away from the illumination of his heart for forty mornings; and the one who eats two, Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Sends the Satan<sup>la</sup> away from the illumination of his heart for a hundred days; and the one who eats three until he completes these, Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Sends the Satan<sup>la</sup> away from the illumination of his heart for a year; and the one from whom Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Sends the Satan<sup>la</sup> away from his heart for a year, would not sin, and the one who does not sin would enter the Paradise’.
