John Shaqi

الْحَوْكُ بَقْلَةُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ أَمَا إِنَّ فِيهِ ثَمَانَ خِصَالٍ يُمْرِئُ وَ يَفْتَحُ السُّدَدَ وَ يُطَيِّبُ الْجُشَاءَ وَ يُطَيِّبُ النَّكْهَةَ وَ يُشَهِّي الطَّعَامَ وَ يَسُلُّ الدَّاءَ وَ هُوَ أَمَانٌ مِنَ الْجُذَامِ إِذَا اسْتَقَرَّ فِي جَوْفِ الْإِنْسَانِ قَمَعَ الدَّاءَ كُلَّهُ .


Translation

Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Musa, from Ashkeyb Bin Abdat Al Hamdany, by a chain of his, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘The sweet basil is a vegetable of the Prophets<sup>as</sup>, therein are eight qualities – It is palatable, and it opens the blockages, and it aromatises the burps, and aromatises the breath, and makes one desirous of the food, and it removes illnesses, and it is a security from the leprosy when it settles in the inside of the human being, it suppresses the illnesses, all of them’.
