قِيلَ لِأَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) إِنَّكَ تَزْعُمُ أَنَّ شُرْبَ الْخَمْرِ أَشَدُّ مِنَ الزِّنَا وَ السَّرِقَةِ فَقَالَ ( عليه السلام ) نَعَمْ إِنَّ صَاحِبَ الزِّنَا لَعَلَّهُ لَا يَعْدُوهُ إِلَى غَيْرِهِ وَ إِنَّ شَارِبَ الْخَمْرِ إِذَا شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ زَنَى وَ سَرَقَ وَ قَتَلَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ تَرَكَ الصَّلَاةَ .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn, raising it, said, ‘It was said to Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup>, ‘You<sup>asws</sup> are claiming that drinking wine is more severe than the adultery and the theft?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes. The perpetrator of the adultery would perhaps not get invited to something else (from the sins), and the wine drinker, when he drinks the wine, would commit adultery, and theft, and murder the soul whom Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic has Prohibited, and would neglect the Prayer’.
