سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ سُئِلَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الْغِنَاءِ فَقَالَ هُوَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Al Washa who said, ‘I heard Abu Al-Hassan Al-Reza<sup>asws</sup> saying: ‘Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> was asked about the singing (music), so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘These are the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:31#h6"><a href="/books/quran:31#h6">[31:6]</a></a> And from the people is one who buys amusing discourse to lead astray from Allah’s Way</span>’.
