سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ النَّفْسُ هَاهُنَا وَ أَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى حَلْقِهِ لَمْ يَكُنْ لِلْعَالِمِ تَوْبَةٌ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ إِنَّمَا التَّوْبَةُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لِلَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السُّوءَ بِجَهالَةٍ .

علی بن ابراہیم نے اپنے والد سے اور محمد بن اسماعیل نے فضل بن شاذان سے، سب نے ابن ابی عمیر سے، انہوں نے جمیل بن دراج سے روایت کی کہ انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا: 'جب روح یہاں پہنچ جائے' — اور آپ نے اپنے ہاتھ سے اپنے گلے کی طرف اشارہ کیا — 'تو عالم کے لیے توبہ نہیں ہوگی۔' پھر آپ نے تلاوت فرمائی: 'بے شک اللہ کے ہاں توبہ صرف انہی لوگوں کے لیے ہے جو جہالت کی وجہ سے برائی کرتے ہیں۔'
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, and Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Al Fazl Bin Shazan, altogether from Ibn Abu Umer, from Jameel Bin Darraj who said, ‘I heard Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> saying: ‘When the soul reaches over here’, and he<sup>asws</sup> indicated by his<sup>asws</sup> hand to his<sup>asws</sup> throat, ‘there would be no (chance of) repentance for the scholar’. Then he<sup>asws</sup> recited <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:4#h17"><a href="/books/quran:4#h17">[4:17]</a></a> But rather, the Repentance with Allah is only for those who do evil in ignorance</span>’.
