قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَكُونُ لِلْمُؤْمِنِ عَشَرَةُ أَقْمِصَةٍ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ عِشْرُونَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قُلْتُ ثَلَاثُونَ قَالَ نَعَمْ لَيْسَ هَذَا مِنَ السَّرَفِ إِنَّمَا السَّرَفُ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ ثَوْبَ صَوْنِكَ ثَوْبَ بِذْلَتِكَ .

میں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے کہا: کیا مومن کے لیے دس قمیصیں ہو سکتی ہیں؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ہاں۔ میں نے کہا: بیس؟ فرمایا: ہاں۔ میں نے کہا: تیس؟ فرمایا: ہاں۔ یہ اسراف نہیں ہے۔ اسراف یہ ہے کہ تم اپنا محفوظ رکھنے والا لباس اپنا روزمرہ کام کا لباس بنا لو۔
Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Al Jamourany, from Al Hassan Bin Ali Bin Abu Hamza, from Sayf Bin Umeyra, from Is’haq Bin Ammar who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, ‘Can there happen to be ten shirts for the Believer’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes’. I said, ‘Twenty?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes’. I said, ‘Thirty?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes. This is not from the extravagance if you make a dress to fend off humiliation’.
