میں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام کو دوسری بار کوفہ لے جایا، اور ابو جعفر المنصور وہاں موجود تھا۔ جب آپ ہاشمیہ — ابو جعفر کے شہر — کے قریب پہنچے تو آپ نے رکاب سے پاؤں نکالا، اترے، ایک سرمئی خچر منگوایا، سفید کپڑے اور سفید ٹوپی پہنی۔ جب آپ اس کے پاس گئے تو ابو جعفر نے کہا: آپ نے انبیاء سے مشابہت اختیار کی ہے۔ ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: آپ مجھے انبیاء کی اولاد سے کیسے دور کر سکتے ہیں؟ اس نے کہا: میں نے ارادہ کیا تھا کہ مدینے کی طرف کسی کو بھیجوں جو اس کے کھجور کے درختوں کو کاٹ دے اور اس کی نسل کو قیدی بنا لے۔ آپ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: یہ کیوں، اے امیرالمومنین؟ اس نے کہا: مجھے اطلاع ملی ہے کہ آپ کا غلام معلی بن خنیس آپ کی طرف دعوت دیتا ہے اور آپ کے لیے مال جمع کرتا ہے۔ آپ نے فرمایا: اللہ کی قسم، ایسا نہیں ہے۔ اس نے کہا: میں آپ سے طلاق، آزادی، قربانی اور پیادہ حج کی قسم کے بغیر نہیں مانوں گا۔ آپ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: کیا آپ مجھے اللہ کے سوا شریکوں کی قسم کھانے کا حکم دیتے ہیں؟ بے شک جو اللہ پر راضی نہ ہو اس کا اللہ سے کوئی تعلق نہیں۔ اس نے کہا: کیا آپ مجھے فقہ سکھاتے ہیں؟ آپ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: آپ مجھے فقہ سے کیسے دور کر سکتے ہیں جبکہ میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ کا بیٹا ہوں؟ اس نے کہا: میں آپ کو اس شخص کے سامنے لاؤں گا جس نے آپ کی چغلی کھائی۔ آپ نے فرمایا: کرو۔ جس شخص نے چغلی کھائی تھی وہ آیا۔ ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام نے اس سے کہا: اے اس! اس نے کہا: ہاں، اللہ کی قسم — جس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، جو پوشیدہ اور ظاہر کا جاننے والا ہے، رحمٰن رحیم — میں نے واقعی یہ کیا۔ ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام نے اس سے کہا: تجھ پر افسوس! تو اللہ کی تعریف کرتا ہے تاکہ وہ تجھے عذاب دینے سے شرم محسوس کرے؟ لیکن کہو: میں اللہ کی قوت و طاقت سے بری ہوں اور اپنی قوت و طاقت پر بھروسہ کرتا ہوں۔ اس شخص نے اس پر قسم کھائی اور ابھی قسم مکمل نہیں کی تھی کہ وہ مردہ گر گیا۔ ابو جعفر نے آپ علیہ السلام سے کہا: اب کے بعد میں آپ کے خلاف کسی کی تصدیق نہیں کروں گا۔ اور اس نے آپ کو انعام دیا اور رخصت کیا۔

Translation

A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Abu Abdullah, from one of his companions, from Safwan Al Jammal who said, ‘I transported Abu Abdullah^asws for the second time to Al-Kufa and Abu Ja’far Al-Mansour was with it. When we arrived at Al-Hashimiyya, a city of Abu Ja’far, he^asws extracted his^asws leg from the stirrups, then descended and called for a young mule, and wore white clothes and a white headgear. So when he^asws went over to him, Abu Ja’far said to him^asws, ‘You^asws have resembled yourself^asws with the Prophets^as’. So Abu Abdullah^asws said: ‘And it means you are distancing me^asws from the sons^asws of the Prophets^as’. So he said, ‘I was thinking that I would send to Al-Medina, the ones who would uproot its palm trees and make captives of its offspring’. So he^asws said: ‘And why is that, O commander of the faithful?’ So he said, ‘It has been raised to me that your^asws slave Al-Moala Bin Khunays is calling (people) to you^asws and is gathering the wealth for you^asws’. So he^asws said: ‘By Allah^azwj that is not so’. So he said, ‘I would not agree with you^asws except with (matters of) the divorce, and the emancipation, and the sacrifice, and the walking (to the Kabah)’. So he^asws said: ‘Is it with the rivals from besides Allah^azwj that you are instructing me that I^asws should be swearing? The one who is not pleased with Allah^azwj, so he has nothing to do with Allah^azwj, regarding anything’. So he said, ‘Are you using jurisprudence (<span class="iTxt">Fiqh</span>) upon me?’ So he^asws said: ‘I^asws distance myself^asws from the jurisprudence (<span class="iTxt">Fiqh</span>), and I^asws am a son^asws of Rasool-Allah^saww’. So he said, ‘So I shall gather between you^asws and the one who informed with you’. So he did it. So the man who had informed of it, came over. So Abu Abdullah^asws said to him: ‘O you! So he said, ‘Yes, by Allah^azwj besides Whom there is no god except for Him^azwj, the Knower of the unseen and the seen, the Beneficent, the Merciful, I did do it’. So Abu Abdullah^asws said to him: ‘Woe be unto you! You Glorify Allah^azwj thinking He^azwj would be too Embarrassed from Punishing you? But say, ‘I disavow from the Might and Strength of Allah^azwj and I come to my own might and strength’. So the man swore by it, and he had not completed it and he fell down dead’. So Abu Ja’far said to him^asws, ‘I will not ratify against you after it, ever, and I would make good your^asws allowing and your^asws refuting’.
