رَأَيْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ عَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ غَلِيظٌ خَشِنٌ تَحْتَ ثِيَابِهِ وَ فَوْقَهَا جُبَّةُ صُوفٍ وَ فَوْقَهَا قَمِيصٌ غَلِيظٌ فَمَسِسْتُهَا فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَكْرَهُونَ لِبَاسَ الصُّوفِ فَقَالَ كَلَّا كَانَ أَبِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ( عليه السلام ) يَلْبَسُهَا وَ كَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ) يَلْبَسُهَا وَ كَانُوا ( عليهم السلام ) يَلْبَسُونَ أَغْلَظَ ثِيَابِهِمْ إِذَا قَامُوا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَ نَحْنُ نَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ .

میں نے ابو عبداللہ (علیہ السلام) کو دیکھا کہ ان کے کپڑوں کے نیچے ایک موٹا اور کھردرا قمیص تھا، اور اس کے اوپر اون کا ایک جبہ تھا، اور اس کے اوپر ایک موٹا قمیص تھا۔ میں نے اسے چھوا اور عرض کیا: میں آپ پر فدا ہوں! لوگ اون کا لباس پہننا ناپسند کرتے ہیں۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ہرگز نہیں! میرے والد محمد بن علی (علیہ السلام) اسے پہنتے تھے، اور علی بن الحسین (علیہ السلام) اسے پہنتے تھے، اور وہ (علیہم السلام) جب نماز کے لیے کھڑے ہوتے تو اپنے سب سے موٹے کپڑے پہنتے تھے، اور ہم بھی ایسا کرتے ہیں۔
Translation
Abu Ali Al Ashary, from Muhammad in Abdul Jabbar, from Ibn Fazzal, from Muhammad Bin Al Husayn Bin Kaseer Al Khazzaz, from his father who said, ‘I saw Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, and upon him<sup>asws</sup> was a coarse, rough shirt underneath his<sup>asws</sup> clothes, and above it was a woolen coat, and above it was a coarse shirt. So I touched it and said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you<sup>asws</sup>! The people are disliking the woolen dress’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Never! My<sup>asws</sup> father<sup>asws</sup> Muhammad<sup>asws</sup> Bin Ali<sup>asws</sup> wore it, and Ali<sup>asws</sup> Bin Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup> wore it, and they<sup>asws</sup> used to wear the roughest of their clothes whenever they<sup>asws</sup> stood for the Prayer, and we<sup>asws</sup> do that (as well)’.
