كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) إِذْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فَقَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) يَا بُنَيَّ أَ لَا تُطَهِّرُ قَمِيصَكَ فَذَهَبَ فَظَنَنَّا أَنَّ ثَوْبَهُ قَدْ أَصَابَهُ شَيْءٌ فَرَجَعَ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ هَكَذَا فَقُلْنَا جَعَلَنَا اللَّهُ فِدَاكَ مَا لِقَمِيصِهِ قَالَ كَانَ قَمِيصُهُ طَوِيلًا وَ أَمَرْتُهُ أَنْ يُقَصِّرَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَقُولُ وَ ثِيابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Muhammad Bin Ali, from a man from salma Baya’a Al Qalanasy who said, ‘I was in the presence of Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> when Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> came over to him<sup>asws</sup>. So Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘O my<sup>asws</sup> son<sup>asws</sup>! Will you not clean your<sup>asws</sup> shirt?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> went, and we thought that something had hit his<sup>asws</sup> clothes. So he<sup>asws</sup> returned and said: ‘It is like this’. So we said, ‘May Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Make us to be sacrificed for you<sup>asws</sup>, what is the matter with his<sup>asws</sup> shirt?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘His<sup>asws</sup> shirt was long and I<sup>asws</sup> instructed him<sup>asws</sup> that he<sup>asws</sup> should shorten (it). Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic is Saying <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:74#h4"><a href="/books/quran:74#h4">[74:4]</a></a> And your garments do purify</span>’.
