دَخَلَ قَوْمٌ عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ( صلوات الله عليه ) فَرَأَوْهُ مُخْتَضِباً بِالسَّوَادِ فَسَأَلُوهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَمَدَّ يَدَهُ إِلَى لِحْيَتِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فِي غَزَاةٍ غَزَاهَا أَنْ يَخْتَضِبُوا بِالسَّوَادِ لِيَقْوَوْا بِهِ عَلَى الْمُشْرِكِينَ .
Translation
Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Saeed Bin Janah, from Abu Khalid Al Zaydi, from Jabir, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘A group of people came over to Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup> Bin Ali<sup>asws</sup>, so they saw him<sup>asws</sup> as having dyed (hair) with the black. So they asked him<sup>asws</sup> about that. So he<sup>asws</sup> extended his<sup>asws</sup> hand towards his<sup>asws</sup> beard, then said: ‘Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> ordered in a military expedition of his<sup>saww</sup> military expeditions, that: ‘Dye (your hair) with the black in order to be stronger upon the Polytheists’.
