رَأَيْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) يَمْضَغُ عِلْكاً فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ نَقَضَتِ الْوَسِمَةُ أَضْرَاسِي فَمَضَغْتُ هَذَا الْعِلْكَ لِأَشُدَّهَا قَالَ وَ كَانَتِ اسْتَرْخَتْ فَشَدَّهَا بِالذَّهَبِ .
Translation
Ibn Mahboub, from Al A’ala Bin Razeyn, form Muhammad Bin Muslim who said, ‘I saw Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> chewing gum, so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘O Muhammad! I<sup>asws</sup>, the woad (a dye plant) twisted my<sup>asws</sup> molar, so I am chewing this gum in order to strengthen it’. He (the narrator) said, ‘And they had loosened, so he<sup>asws</sup> tightened them with the gold’.
