John Shaqi

سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ فِي السِّوَاكِ عَشَرَةُ خِصَالٍ مَطْهَرَةٌ لِلْفَمِ وَ مَرْضَاةٌ لِلرَّبِّ وَ مَفْرَحَةٌ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ وَ هُوَ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ وَ يَشُدُّ اللِّثَةَ وَ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ وَ يَذْهَبُ بِالْبَلْغَمِ وَ يَذْهَبُ بِالْحَفْرِ .


Translation

Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Muhammad Bin Isa, from Al Hassan Bin Bahr, from Mihzam Al Asady who said, ‘I heard Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> saying: ‘In brushing of the teeth are ten qualities – Cleansing for the mouth, and a Pleasure of the Lord<sup>azwj</sup>, and a happiness for the Angels, and it is from the Sunnah, and it strengthens the gums, and polishes the vision, and it removes the phlegm, and removes the cavities’.
