Al-Kafi 12796

Translation

One of our companions, from Ibn Jamhour, from Muhammad Bin Al Qasim, and Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Ahmad, from yusuf Bin Al Sukht Al Basry, from Muhammad Bin Suleyman, from Ibrahim Bin Yahya Bin Abu Al Balaad, from Al Hassan Bin Ali Bin Mihran, altogether from Abdullah Bin Abu Yafour who said, ‘We were at Al-Medina, so Zurara disputed with me regarding plucking the armpit and shaving it. So I said, ‘Shaving it is preferable’, and Zurara said, ‘Plucking it is preferable’. So we both sought permission to (see) Abu Abdullah^asws, so he^asws permitted for us and he^asws was in the bathhouse waxing, having waxed his^asws armpits. So I said to Zurara, ‘Do it suffice for you?’ He said, ‘No, perhaps he^asws has done this and it is not allowed for me that I do it’. So he^asws said: ‘In what (discussion) are you?’ So I said, ‘Zurara disputed with me regarding plucking of the armpit and the shaving of it’. So I said that shaving is preferable, and he said plucking is preferable’. So he^asws said: ‘You have hit the Sunnah and Zurara has erred. Shaving it is preferable than plucking it, and waxing it is preferable than shaving it’. Then he^asws said to us both: ‘Get waxing done’. So we both said, ‘We did that three (days) ago’. So he^asws said: ‘Repeat it, for waxing is a cleanser’.
