سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ السَّطْحِ يُنَامُ عَلَيْهِ بِغَيْرِ حُجْرَةٍ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ثَلَاثَةِ حِيطَانٍ فَقَالَ لَا إِلَّا أَرْبَعَةً قُلْتُ كَمْ طُولُ الْحَائِطِ قَالَ أَقْصَرُهُ ذِرَاعٌ وَ شِبْرٌ .
Translation
From him, from his father, from Safwan Bin yahya, from Ays Bin Al Qasim who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about the roof, can one sleep upon it without an enclosure?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> forbade from that’. So I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about three walls, so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘No, unless it is four’. I said, ‘How much should the height of the walls be?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The shortest of it is one cubit and one open-palms width (<span class="iTxt">Shibr</span>)’.
