سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ إِغْلَاقِ الْأَبْوَابِ وَ إِيكَاءِ الْأَوَانِي وَ إِطْفَاءِ السِّرَاجِ فَقَالَ أَغْلِقْ بَابَكَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَفْتَحُ بَاباً وَ أَطْفِ السِّرَاجَ مِنَ الْفُوَيْسِقَةِ وَ هِيَ الْفَأْرَةُ لَا تُحْرِقْ بَيْتَكَ وَ أَوْكِ الْإِنَاءَ . وَ رُوِيَ أَنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَكْشِفُ مُخَمَّراً يَعْنِي مُغَطًّى .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Usman Bin Isa, from Sama’at who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about closing the doors, and covering the utensils, and extinguishing the lantern, so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Close your door for the Satan<sup>la</sup> does not open a door, and extinguish your lantern from the rats, and it is the mouse which would not (be able to) burn down your house and overturn your utensils’. And it is reported that, ‘(He<sup>asws</sup> said): ‘The Satan<sup>la</sup> does not uncover a lid, meaning a covering’.
