سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ رَجُلٍ أَوْصَى إِلَيَّ وَ هَلَكَ وَ تَرَكَ ابْنَةً فَقَالَ أَعْطِ الِابْنَةَ النِّصْفَ وَ اتْرُكْ لِلْمَوَالِي النِّصْفَ فَرَجَعْتُ فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُنَا لَا وَ اللَّهِ مَا لِلْمَوَالِي شَيْءٌ فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ قَابِلٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ إِنَّ أَصْحَابَنَا قَالُوا لَيْسَ لِلْمَوَالِي شَيْءٌ وَ إِنَّمَا اتَّقَاكَ فَقَالَ لَا وَ اللَّهِ مَا اتَّقَيْتُكَ وَ لَكِنِّي خِفْتُ عَلَيْكَ أَنْ تُؤْخَذَ بِالنِّصْفِ فَإِنْ كُنْتَ لَا تَخَافُ فَادْفَعِ النِّصْفَ الْآخَرَ إِلَى الِابْنَةِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ سَيُؤَدِّي عَنْكَ .
Translation
Humeyd Bin Ziyad, from Al Hassan Bin Muhammad Al Kindy, from Ahmad Bin Al Hassan Al Maysami, from Aban Bin Usman, from Abdullah Bin Muhraz who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about a man who bequeathed to me and died, and left a daughter. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Give the daughter, the half, and leave for the guardians, the half’. So I returned. So our companions said, ‘No, by Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, there is nothing for the guardians’. So I returned to meet him<sup>asws</sup>, so I said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘Our companions said, ‘There is nothing for the guardians, but rather it was out of dissimulation for you’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘No, by Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, I<sup>asws</sup> was not dissimulative to you, but I feared over you that you would be seized for the half. So if you are not afraid, so hand over the other half to the daughter, for Allah<sup>azwj</sup> will be Leading you’.
