قُلْتُ لَهُ أَ رَأَيْتَ النَّبِيَّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) كَيْفَ كَانَ يَضْرِبُ فِي الْخَمْرِ فَقَالَ كَانَ يَضْرِبُ بِالنِّعَالِ وَ يَزِيدُ إِذَا أُتِيَ بِالشَّارِبِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَزَلِ النَّاسُ يَزِيدُونَ حَتَّى وَقَفَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى ثَمَانِينَ أَشَارَ بِذَلِكَ عَلِيٌّ ( صلوات الله عليه ) عَلَى عُمَرَ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hammad Bin Usman, from Al Halby, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, (the narrator) said, ‘I said to him<sup>asws</sup>, What is your<sup>asws</sup> view how the Prophet<sup>saww</sup> used to whip regarding the wine?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘He<sup>saww</sup> used to whip by the slippers (feet), and he<sup>saww</sup> increase when they came with the drinker. Then the people did not cease increaseing until that paused at eighty. Ali<sup>asws</sup> pointed that out to Umar’.
