John Shaqi

قَطَعَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ( عليه السلام ) فِي بَيْضَةٍ قُلْتُ وَ مَا بَيْضَةٌ قَالَ بَيْضَةٌ قِيمَتُهَا رُبُعُ دِينَارٍ وَ قُلْتُ هُوَ أَدْنَى حَدِّ السَّارِقِ فَسَكَتَ .


Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Muhammad Bin Isa Bin Ubeyd, from Yunus, from Sama’at Bin Mahran, Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> has said: ‘Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup> used to cut regrding a ‘<span class="iTxt">Bayza</span>’. I said, ‘And what is a ‘<span class="iTxt">Bayza</span>’ (a helmet)?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘A <span class="iTxt">Bayza</span>, its value is a quarter Dinaar’. And I said, ‘Is it the lowest (value) for a Penalty (<span class="iTxt">Hadd</span>) of a thief?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> was silent (in agreement)’.
