إِذَا اجْتَمَعَتِ الْعِدَّةُ عَلَى قَتْلِ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ حَكَمَ الْوَالِي أَنْ يُقْتَلَ أَيُّهُمْ شَاءُوا وَ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ أَنْ يَقْتُلُوا أَكْثَرَ مِنْ وَاحِدٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَقُولُ وَ مَنْ قُتِلَ مَظْلُوماً فَقَدْ جَعَلْنا لِوَلِيِّهِ سُلْطاناً فَلا يُسْرِفْ فِي الْقَتْلِ .

علی بن ابراہیم نے اپنے والد سے، انہوں نے ابن ابی عمیر سے، انہوں نے قاسم بن عروہ سے، انہوں نے ابو العباس اور دیگر سے، انہوں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے فرمایا: جب کوئی جماعت ایک آدمی کے قتل پر اکٹھی ہو تو ولی (مقتول کا وارث) حکم دے گا کہ ان میں سے جسے چاہیں قتل کیا جائے، اور انہیں یہ حق نہیں کہ ایک سے زیادہ کو قتل کریں۔ بے شک اللہ عزوجل فرماتا ہے: 'اور جو شخص مظلوم قتل کیا گیا ہو تو ہم نے اس کے ولی کو اختیار دیا ہے، پس وہ قتل میں زیادتی نہ کرے۔'
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Al Qasim Bin Urwa, from Abu Al Abbas and someone else, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘When a number gather upon killing one man, the guardians (of the deceased) decide which one of them they would like to kill, and it is not for them that they kill more than one. Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic is Saying <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:17#h33"><a href="/books/quran:17#h33">[17:33]</a></a> and whoever is killed unjustly, We have indeed Given to his heir authority, so let him not be excessive with regards to the killing</span>’.
