John Shaqi

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الْأَوَّلِ (عليه السلام) فَرَآنِي أَتَأَوَّهُ فَقَالَ مَا لَكَ قُلْتُ ضِرْسِي فَقَالَ لَوِ احْتَجَمْتَ فَاحْتَجَمْتُ فَسَكَنَ فَأَعْلَمْتُهُ فَقَالَ لِي مَا تَدَاوَى النَّاسُ بِشَيْ‏ءٍ خَيْرٍ مِنْ مَصَّةِ دَمٍ أَمْ مُزْعَةِ عَسَلٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ مَا الْمُزْعَةُ عَسَلٍ [عَسَلًا] قَالَ لَعْقَةُ عَسَلٍ.


Translation

<a id="_Toc492473356">H 14679</a> – Ahmad Bin Muhammad Al-Kufy, from Ali Bin Al-Hassan Bin Ali Bin Fazzaal, from Muhammad Bin Abdul Hameed, from Al-Hakam Bin Makeyn, from Hamza Bin Al-Tayyaar who said: <span class="first-chapter-phrase"><span class="first-in-chapter character-i">I</span> was in the presence</span> of Abu Al-Hassan the First<sup>asws</sup>. He<sup>asws</sup> saw me groaning (with pain). So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘What is the matter with you?’ I said, ‘My molar (toothache)’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘If only you had cupping done’. So I got cupping done and it settled down. I informed him<sup>asws</sup> of it’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said to me: ‘There is no better cure for the people than the sucking out of the blood and a certain amount of honey’. I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you<sup>asws</sup>, what is a certain amount of honey?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘A lick of honey’.
