John Shaqi

قَرَأَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عليه السلام) فَإِنَّهُمْ لا يُكَذِّبُونَكَ وَ لكِنَّ الظَّالِمِينَ بِآياتِ اللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ فَقَالَ بَلَى وَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ كَذَّبُوهُ أَشَدَّ التَّكْذِيبِ وَ لَكِنَّهَا مُخَفَّفَةٌ لا يُكَذِّبُونَكَ لَا يَأْتُونَ بِبَاطِلٍ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِهِ حَقَّكَ.


Translation

<a id="_Toc492473366">H 14689</a> – Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al-Husayn Bin Saeed, from Al-nazar Bin Suweyd, from Muhammad Bin Abu Hamza, from Yaqoub Bin Shuayb, from Umraan Bin Maysam, who has narrated the following: <span class="first-chapter-phrase"><span class="first-in-chapter character-a">A</span>bu Abdullah</span><sup>asws</sup> said: ‘A man recited to Amir-ul-Momineen<sup>asws</sup> (the following Verse) <span class="ibTxt">“<a href="/#/books/quran:6#h33"><a href="/books/quran:6#h33">[6:33]</a></a> We know indeed that what they say certainly grieves you, but surely they do not call you a liar; but the unjust deny the communications of Allah”</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes, by Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, they had denied him<sup>saww</sup> with an intense denial, but it was hidden. (The meaning of) “<span class="ibTxt">but surely they do not call you a liar”</span> is that ‘they would not be able to come up with the refutation in order to belie your<sup>saww</sup> truth’’.
