حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ بَكْرٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ قَالَ قَالَ لِي أَبُو الْحَسَنِ (عليه السلام) لَوْ مَيَّزْتُ شِيعَتِي لَمْ أَجِدْهُمْ إِلَّا وَاصِفَةً وَ لَوِ امْتَحَنْتُهُمْ لَمَا وَجَدْتُهُمْ إِلَّا مُرْتَدِّينَ وَ لَوْ تَمَحَّصْتُهُمْ لَمَا خَلَصَ مِنَ الْأَلْفِ وَاحِدٌ وَ لَوْ غَرْبَلْتُهُمْ غَرْبَلَةً لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا مَا كَانَ لِي إِنَّهُمْ طَالَ مَا اتَّكَوْا عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ فَقَالُوا نَحْنُ شِيعَةُ عَلِيٍّ إِنَّمَا شِيعَةُ عَلِيٍّ مَنْ صَدَّقَ قَوْلَهُ فِعْلُهُ.
Translation
<a id="_Toc492473417">H 14738</a> – And by this chain, from Muhammad Bin Suleyman, from Ibrahim Bin Abdullah Al-Sufy from Musa Bin Bakr Al-Wasity who said: <span class="first-chapter-phrase"><span class="first-in-chapter character-a">A</span>bu Al-Hassan</span><sup>asws</sup> said to me: ‘If I<sup>asws</sup> were to distinguish my<sup>asws</sup> Shites, I<sup>asws</sup> would not find them except for the description (talk). And if I<sup>asws</sup> were to test them, I<sup>asws</sup> would not find them except as apostates. And if I<sup>asws</sup> were to scrutinise them not even one out of a thousand would escape. And if I<sup>asws</sup> were to screen them with a screening, there would not remain from them except the one who was for me<sup>asws</sup>. They have been saying for a long time, leaning upon their couches, ‘We are the Shites of Ali<sup>asws</sup>’. But rather, the Shiite of Ali<sup>asws</sup> is the one who truthful in both his actions as well as his words’.
