أَ لَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِالْإِسْلَامِ أَصْلِهِ وَ فَرْعِهِ وَ ذِرْوَةِ سَنَامِهِ قُلْتُ بَلَى جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ أَمَّا أَصْلُهُ فَالصَّلَاةُ وَ فَرْعُهُ الزَّكَاةُ وَ ذِرْوَةُ سَنَامِهِ الْجِهَادُ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَخْبَرْتُكَ بِأَبْوَابِ الْخَيْرِ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ مِنَ النَّارِ وَ الصَّدَقَةُ تَذْهَبُ بِالْخَطِيئَةِ وَ قِيَامُ الرَّجُلِ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ ( عليه السلام ) تَتَجافى جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ الْمَضاجِعِ .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Nu’man, from Ibn Muskan, from Suleyman Bin Khalid, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Shall I inform you with Al-<span class="iTxt">Islām</span>, its roots, and its branches, and the peak of its hump’. I said, ‘Yes, may I be sacrificed for you<sup>asws</sup>!’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘As for its root, so it is the <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>, and its branch is the <span class="iTxt">Zakāt</span>, and the peak of its hump is the <span class="iTxt">Jihād</span>’. Then he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘If you so desire, I<sup>asws</sup> can inform you about the doors of goodness’. I said, ‘Yes, may I be sacrificed for you<sup>asws</sup>’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The <span class="iTxt">Soām</span> is a shield from the Fire, and the charity eradicates the mistakes, and the standing of the man in the middle of the night with the Remembrance of Allah<sup>azwj</sup>’. Then he<sup>asws</sup> recited <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:32#h16"><a href="/books/quran:32#h16">[32:16]</a></a> Their sides forsake their beds</span>’.
