سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ كَانَ فِي الْكَنْزِ الَّذِي قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ كانَ تَحْتَهُ كَنْزٌ لَهُما كَانَ فِيهِ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ عَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ أَيْقَنَ بِالْمَوْتِ كَيْفَ يَفْرَحُ وَ عَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ أَيْقَنَ بِالْقَدَرِ كَيْفَ يَحْزَنُ وَ عَجِبْتُ لِمَنْ رَأَى الدُّنْيَا وَ تَقَلُّبَهَا بِأَهْلِهَا كَيْفَ يَرْكَنُ إِلَيْهَا وَ يَنْبَغِي لِمَنْ عَقَلَ عَنِ اللَّهِ أَنْ لَا يَتَّهِمَ اللَّهَ فِي قَضَائِهِ وَ لَا يَسْتَبْطِئَهُ فِي رِزْقِهِ فَقُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَكْتُبَهُ قَالَ فَضَرَبَ وَ اللَّهِ يَدَهُ إِلَى الدَّوَاةِ لِيَضَعَهَا بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ فَتَنَاوَلْتُ يَدَهُ فَقَبَّلْتُهَا وَ أَخَذْتُ الدَّوَاةَ فَكَتَبْتُهُ .
Translation
Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Asbat who said, ‘I heard Abu Al-Hassan Al-Reza<sup>asws</sup> saying regarding the treasure which Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:18#h82"><a href="/books/quran:18#h82">[18:82]</a></a> and there was beneath it a treasure belonging to them both</span>. There was in it, ‘In the Name of Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, the Beneficent, the Merciful. How strange of the one who is certain of the death, how he is happy, and how strange for the one who is certain with the Pre-determination how he grieves, and how strange of the one who sees the world how it overturns its people how he can incline towards it, and it is befitting for the one who minds about Allah<sup>azwj</sup> that he does not accuse Allah<sup>azwj</sup> regarding His<sup>azwj</sup> Ordainment nor consider Him<sup>azwj</sup> as having Slowed-down regarding his sustenance’. So I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you<sup>asws</sup>! I want to write it down’. So he<sup>asws</sup> struck his hand, by Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, towards the inkpot in order to place it in front of me. So I grabbed hold of his<sup>asws</sup> hand, and I kissed it, and took the inkpot, so I wrote it down’.
