سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ مَا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ حَلَالًا وَ لَا حَرَاماً إِلَّا وَ لَهُ حَدٌّ كَحَدِّ الدَّارِ فَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الطَّرِيقِ فَهُوَ مِنَ الطَّرِيقِ وَ مَا كَانَ مِنَ الدَّارِ فَهُوَ مِنَ الدَّارِ حَتَّى أَرْشُ الْخَدْشِ فَمَا سِوَاهُ وَ الْجَلْدَةِ وَ نِصْفِ الْجَلْدَةِ .

علی نے محمد سے، انہوں نے یونس سے، انہوں نے ابان سے، انہوں نے سلیمان بن ہارون سے روایت کی جنہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام کو فرماتے سنا: اللہ نے کوئی حلال اور کوئی حرام نہیں بنایا مگر یہ کہ اس کے لیے ایک حد ہے جیسے گھر کی حد۔ پس جو راستے سے ہے وہ راستے سے ہے، اور جو گھر سے ہے وہ گھر سے ہے — یہاں تک کہ خراش کا ارش اور اس سے زیادہ، اور کوڑا، اور آدھا کوڑا۔
Translation
Ali Bin Muhammad, from Yunus, from Aban, from Suleyman Bin Haroun who said, ‘I heard Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> saying: ‘Allah<sup>azwj</sup> has not Created a Permissible nor a Prohibition except that there is a limit for it like the boundary of the house. So whatever was from the road (people outside), so it is from the road, and whatever was from the house (Ahl Al-Bayt<sup>asws</sup>), so it is from the house, even the compensation for a scratch, and what is besides it, and the lashing, and half a lashing’.
