أَوْحَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَى آدَمَ ( عليه السلام ) أَنِّي سَأَجْمَعُ لَكَ الْكَلَامَ فِي أَرْبَعِ كَلِمَاتٍ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ وَ مَا هُنَّ قَالَ وَاحِدَةٌ لِي وَ وَاحِدَةٌ لَكَ وَ وَاحِدَةٌ فِيمَا بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَكَ وَ وَاحِدَةٌ فِيمَا بَيْنَكَ وَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ بَيِّنْهُنَّ لِي حَتَّى أَعْلَمَهُنَّ قَالَ أَمَّا الَّتِي لِي فَتَعْبُدُنِي لَا تُشْرِكُ بِي شَيْئاً وَ أَمَّا الَّتِي لَكَ فَأَجْزِيكَ بِعَمَلِكَ أَحْوَجَ مَا تَكُونُ إِلَيْهِ وَ أَمَّا الَّتِي بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَكَ فَعَلَيْكَ الدُّعَاءُ وَ عَلَيَّ الْإِجَابَةُ وَ أَمَّا الَّتِي بَيْنَكَ وَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ فَتَرْضَى لِلنَّاسِ مَا تَرْضَى لِنَفْسِكَ وَ تَكْرَهُ لَهُمْ مَا تَكْرَهُ لِنَفْسِكَ .
Translation
Muhammad in Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Yunus Bin Imran Bin Maysam, from Yaqoub Bin Shuayb, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Revealed unto Adam<sup>as</sup>: “I<sup>azwj</sup> shall Gather the Speech for you in four Sentences”. He<sup>as</sup> said: ‘O Lord<sup>azwj</sup>! And what are these?’ He<sup>azwj</sup> Said: “One for Me<sup>azwj</sup>, and one for You<sup>as</sup>, and one regarding what is between Me<sup>azwj</sup> and you<sup>as</sup>, and one regarding what is between you<sup>as</sup> and the people”. He<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> said: ‘O Lord<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>! Explain these to me<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> until I<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> know these’. He<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Said: “As for that which is for Me<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>, so worship Me<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>, nor associating anything with Me<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>; and as for that which is for you<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup>, so I<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> shall Recompense you for your<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> deeds with what would you<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> would happen to be the most needy to; and as for that which is between Me<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> and you<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup>, so upon you<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> is the supplication and upon Me<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> is the Answering; and as for that which is between you<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> and the people, so you<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> should be pleased with the people what you<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> would be pleased with yourself<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup>, and dislike for them what you<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> would dislike for yourself<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup>’.
