John Shaqi

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) أَيُّ الْخِصَالِ بِالْمَرْءِ أَجْمَلُ فَقَالَ وَقَارٌ بِلَا مَهَابَةٍ وَ سَمَاحٌ بِلَا طَلَبِ مُكَافَأَةٍ وَ تَشَاغُلٌ بِغَيْرِ مَتَاعِ الدُّنْيَا .


Translation

From him, from Al Haysam, from Abdul Aziz Bin Umar, from one of his companions, from Yahya Bin Imran Al Halby who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, ‘Which is the most beautiful characteristics of the man?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Dignity without a reverence, and open-handedness without seeking a recompense, and pre-occupation with other than the chattels of the world’.
