سَأَلْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ لَوْ لا أَنْ يَكُونَ النَّاسُ أُمَّةً واحِدَةً قَالَ عَنَى بِذَلِكَ أُمَّةَ مُحَمَّدٍ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) أَنْ يَكُونُوا عَلَى دِينٍ وَاحِدٍ كُفَّاراً كُلَّهُمْ لَجَعَلْنا لِمَنْ يَكْفُرُ بِالرَّحْمنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمْ سُقُفاً مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَ لَوْ فَعَلَ اللَّهُ ذَلِكَ بِأُمَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) لَحَزِنَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَ غَمَّهُمْ ذَلِكَ وَ لَمْ يُنَاكِحُوهُمْ وَ لَمْ يُوَارِثُوهُمْ .

ہمارے بعض اصحاب نے، سهل بن زیاد سے، ابن محبوب سے، عبداللہ بن غالب سے، ان کے والد سے، سعید بن المسیب سے روایت کی، جنہوں نے کہا: میں نے علی بن الحسین (عليه السلام) سے اللہ عز و جل کے اس فرمان کے بارے میں پوچھا: اور اگر یہ نہ ہوتا کہ لوگ ایک ہی امت بن جائیں۔ انہوں نے فرمایا: اس سے مراد محمد (صلى الله عليه وآله) کی امت ہے، کہ اگر وہ سب کے سب ایک ہی دین پر کافر ہوتے، تو ہم ضرور ان لوگوں کے لیے جو رحمن کا انکار کرتے ہیں، ان کے گھروں کی چھتیں چاندی کی بنا دیتے۔ اور اگر اللہ نے یہ کام امتِ محمد (صلى الله عليه وآله) کے ساتھ کیا ہوتا تو مومن غمگین ہو جاتے، اور یہ بات انہیں رنج پہنچاتی؛ اور وہ نہ ان سے نکاح کرتے، نہ ان سے وراثت پاتے۔
Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ibn Mahboub, from Abdullah Bin Ghalib, from his father, from Saeed Bin Al Musayyab who said, ‘I asked Ali<sup>asws</sup> Bin Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:43#h33"><a href="/books/quran:43#h33">[43:33]</a></a> And were it not that all people had been a single nation</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘It Means by that the community of Muhammad<sup>saww</sup>, if they had happened to be upon one Religion, they would have been disbeliever, all of them <span class="ibTxt">We would certainly have Assigned to those who disbelieve in the Beneficent (to make) of silver the roofs of their houses</span>. And had Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Done that with the community of Muhammad<sup>saww</sup>, the <span class="iTxt">Momineen</span> would have grieved and that would have saddened them, and would not have married them and would not have inherited them’.
