سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الْمُسْتَضْعَفِ فَقَالَ هُوَ الَّذِي لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ حِيلَةً يَدْفَعُ بِهَا عَنْهُ الْكُفْرَ وَ لَا يَهْتَدِي بِهَا إِلَى سَبِيلِ الْإِيمَانِ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يُؤْمِنَ وَ لَا يَكْفُرَ قَالَ وَ الصِّبْيَانُ وَ مَنْ كَانَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ وَ النِّسَاءِ عَلَى مِثْلِ عُقُولِ الصِّبْيَانِ .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ibn Mahboub, from Ibn Ra’ib, from Zurara who said, ‘I asked Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> about the weak one (of understanding). So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘He is one who has no capacity of reason to repel the <span class="iTxt">Kufr</span> (disbelief) by it, nor is he guided by it to the way of <span class="iTxt">Emān</span>. He has not capacity that he believes nor that he disbelieves’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘And the childfren, and the ones from the men and the women who was upon a similar intellect of the children’.
