سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ يُذْنِبُ ذَنْباً إِلَّا أَجَّلَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ سَبْعَ سَاعَاتٍ مِنَ النَّهَارِ فَإِنْ هُوَ تَابَ لَمْ يُكْتَبْ عَلَيْهِ شَيْءٌ وَ إِنْ هُوَ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ سَيِّئَةً فَأَتَاهُ عَبَّادٌ الْبَصْرِيُّ فَقَالَ لَهُ بَلَغَنَا أَنَّكَ قُلْتَ مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يُذْنِبُ ذَنْباً إِلَّا أَجَّلَهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ سَبْعَ سَاعَاتٍ مِنَ النَّهَارِ فَقَالَ لَيْسَ هَكَذَا قُلْتُ وَ لَكِنِّي قُلْتُ مَا مِنْ مُؤْمِنٍ وَ كَذَلِكَ كَانَ قَوْلِي .
Translation
Abu Ali Al Ashary and Muhammad Bin Yahya, altogether from Al Husayn Bin Is’haq and Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, altogether from Ali Bin Mahziyar, from Al Nazar Bin Suweyd, from Abdullah Bin Sinan, from Hafs who said, ‘I heard Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> saying: ‘There is none from a <span class="iTxt">Momin</span> who commits a sin except that Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Respites him for seven hours from the day. So if he repents, nothing is Written against him, and if he does not (repent), Allah<sup>azwj</sup> would Write one evil deed against him’. So Abbad Al-Basry came over and said to him<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup>, ‘It has reached us that you<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘There is none from a servant who commits a sin except Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Respites him for seven hours from the day’. So he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘I<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> did not say it like this. But, I<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘There is none from a <span class="iTxt">Momin</span>’, and that was how my<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> words were’.
