John Shaqi

إِنَّ آدَمَ ( عليه السلام ) قَالَ يَا رَبِّ سَلَّطْتَ عَلَيَّ الشَّيْطَانَ وَ أَجْرَيْتَهُ مِنِّي مَجْرَى الدَّمِ فَاجْعَلْ لِي شَيْئاً فَقَالَ يَا آدَمُ جَعَلْتُ لَكَ أَنَّ مَنْ هَمَّ مِنْ ذُرِّيَّتِكَ بِسَيِّئَةٍ لَمْ تُكْتَبْ عَلَيْهِ فَإِنْ عَمِلَهَا كُتِبَتْ عَلَيْهِ سَيِّئَةٌ وَ مَنْ هَمَّ مِنْهُمْ بِحَسَنَةٍ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَعْمَلْهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ حَسَنَةٌ فَإِنْ هُوَ عَمِلَهَا كُتِبَتْ لَهُ عَشْراً قَالَ يَا رَبِّ زِدْنِي قَالَ جَعَلْتُ لَكَ أَنَّ مَنْ عَمِلَ مِنْهُمْ سَيِّئَةً ثُمَّ اسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ غَفَرْتُ لَهُ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ زِدْنِي قَالَ جَعَلْتُ لَهُمُ التَّوْبَةَ أَوْ قَالَ بَسَطْتُ لَهُمُ التَّوْبَةَ حَتَّى تَبْلُغَ النَّفْسُ هَذِهِ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ حَسْبِي .


Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Jameel Bin Darraj, from Ibn Bukeyr, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> or from Abu Ja’far<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> having said: ‘Adam<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> said: ‘O Lord<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>! You<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> (Allowed) the Satan<sup style="font-weight: normal">la</sup> to overcome upon me<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> and flow from me<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> the flowing of the blood, therefore Make something to be for me (as well)’. So He<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Said: “O Adam<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup>! I<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Make it to be for you<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> that the one from your<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> offspring who intends an evil deed, it would not be Written against him, but if he does do it, one evil deed would be Written against him. The one from them who intends a good deed but he does not do it, one good deed would be Written for him, but if he does do it, ten would be Written for him”. He<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> said: ‘O Lord<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>! Increase for me<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup>’. He<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Said: “I<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> have Made it to be for you<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> that the one from them who does an evil deed, then seeks Forgiveness for it, I<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> would Forgive it for him”. He<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> said: ‘O Lord<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>! Increase for me<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup>! He<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Said: “I<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> have Made the repentance to be for them”, or said: “Extended the repentance for them until the soul reaches this (throat)’. He<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup> said: ‘O Lord<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>! It is sufficient for me<sup style="font-weight: normal">as</sup>’.
