سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فَمَا اسْتَكانُوا لِرَبِّهِمْ وَ ما يَتَضَرَّعُونَ قَالَ الِاسْتِكَانَةُ هِيَ الْخُضُوعُ وَ التَّضَرُّعُ رَفْعُ الْيَدَيْنِ وَ التَّضَرُّعُ بِهِمَا .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from In Mahboub, from Abu Ayoub, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said, ‘I asked Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> about the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:23#h76"><a href="/books/quran:23#h76">[23:76]</a></a> but they were not submissive to their Lord, nor were they humbling themselves</span>. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The submission, it is the yielding, and the humbling is the raising of the hands and the beseeching with them both’.
