قُلْتُ لَهُ مَا عَنَى بِقَوْلِهِ وَ إِبْراهِيمَ الَّذِي وَفَّى قَالَ كَلِمَاتٍ بَالَغَ فِيهِنَّ قُلْتُ وَ مَا هُنَّ قَالَ كَانَ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ قَالَ أَصْبَحْتُ وَ رَبِّي مَحْمُودٌ أَصْبَحْتُ لَا أُشْرِكُ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئاً وَ لَا أَدْعُو مَعَهُ إِلَهاً وَ لَا أَتَّخِذُ مِنْ دُونِهِ وَلِيّاً ثَلَاثاً وَ إِذَا أَمْسَى قَالَهَا ثَلَاثاً قَالَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ فِي كِتَابِهِ وَ إِبْراهِيمَ الَّذِي وَفَّى قُلْتُ فَمَا عَنَى بِقَوْلِهِ فِي نُوحٍ إِنَّهُ كانَ عَبْداً شَكُوراً قَالَ كَلِمَاتٍ بَالَغَ فِيهِنَّ قُلْتُ وَ مَا هُنَّ قَالَ كَانَ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ قَالَ أَصْبَحْتُ أُشْهِدُكَ مَا أَصْبَحَتْ بِي مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ أَوْ عَافِيَةٍ فِي دِينٍ أَوْ دُنْيَا فَإِنَّهَا مِنْكَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَكَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ وَ لَكَ الشُّكْرُ كَثِيراً كَانَ يَقُولُهَا إِذَا أَصْبَحَ ثَلَاثاً وَ إِذَا أَمْسَى ثَلَاثاً قُلْتُ فَمَا عَنَى بِقَوْلِهِ فِي يَحْيَى وَ حَناناً مِنْ لَدُنَّا وَ زَكاةً قَالَ تَحَنُّنَ اللَّهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَمَا بَلَغَ مِنْ تَحَنُّنِ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ كَانَ إِذَا قَالَ يَا رَبِّ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لَبَّيْكَ يَا يَحْيَى .
Translation
Ali Bin Muhammad, from one of his companions, from Muhammad Bin Sinan, from Abu Saeed Al Mukary, from Abu Hamza, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘What is the Meaning of His<sup>azwj</sup> Words <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:53#h37"><a href="/books/quran:53#h37">[53:37]</a></a> And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled it</span>?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Certain words he<sup>asws</sup> used to express these with’. I said, ‘And what were these?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘It was so that when it was morning, he<sup>as</sup> said: ‘I wake up in the morning and my Lord<sup>azwj</sup> is the most Praise One. I wake up in the morning and I do not associate anything with Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, and I do not supplicate to a (another) god along with Him<sup>azwj</sup>, and I do not take a Guardian besides Him<sup>azwj</sup>’, three (times). And when it is evening, say it three (times)’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Thus Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Revealed in His<sup>azwj</sup> Book <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:53#h37"><a href="/books/quran:53#h37">[53:37]</a></a> And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled it</span>’. I said, ‘And what is the Meaning of His<sup>azwj</sup> Words regarding Nuh<sup>as</sup> <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:17#h3"><a href="/books/quran:17#h3">[17:3]</a></a> surely he was a grateful servant</span>?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Certain words he<sup>as</sup> expressed with’. I said, ‘And what were these?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘It was so that when it was morning, he<sup>as</sup> said: ‘In the morning I<sup>as</sup> testify to You<sup>azwj</sup> what has come to me<sup>as</sup> from the Bounties or the good health regarding religion of the world, is from You<sup>azwj</sup>, Alone, there being no associates for You<sup>azwj</sup>. So for You<sup>azwj</sup> is the Praise upon that, and for You<sup>azwj</sup> is the abundant thanks’. He<sup>as</sup> used to say it when it was morning, three (times), and when it was evening three (times)’. I said, ‘So what is the Meaning of His<sup>azwj</sup> Words regarding Yahya<sup>as</sup> <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:19#h13"><a href="/books/quran:19#h13">[19:13]</a></a> And tenderness from Us and purity, and he was pious</span>?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Made him<sup>as</sup> tender (hearted)’. I said, ‘So what Tenderness of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Reached upon him<sup>as</sup>?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Whenever he<sup>as</sup> said ‘O Lord<sup>azwj</sup>!’ Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Said: “Here I<sup>azwj</sup> am, O Yahya<sup>as</sup>”’.
