أَبْطَأَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) عَنْهُ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) مَا أَبْطَأَ بِكَ عَنَّا فَقَالَ السُّقْمُ وَ الْفَقْرُ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَ فَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ دُعَاءً يَذْهَبُ اللَّهُ عَنْكَ بِالسُّقْمِ وَ الْفَقْرِ قَالَ بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ قُلْ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى الْحَيِّ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ وَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ صَاحِبَةً وَ لَا وَلَداً وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي الْمُلْكِ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ وَلِيُّ مِنْ الذُّلِّ وَ كَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيراً قَالَ فَمَا لَبِثَ أَنْ عَادَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ أَذْهَبَ اللَّهُ عَنِّي السُّقْمَ وَ الْفَقْرَ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Ismail Bin Abdul Khaliq who said, ‘A man from the companions of the Prophet<sup>saww</sup> was delay from him<sup>saww</sup>. Then he came over to him<sup>saww</sup>. So Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said to him: ‘What delayed you from us<sup>saww</sup>?’ So he said, ‘The illness and the poverty’. So he<sup>saww</sup> said to him: ‘So, shall I<sup>saww</sup> teach you a supplication by which Allah<sup>azwj</sup> will Remove from you, the illness and the poverty?’ He said, ‘Yes, O Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup>!’. So he<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> said: ‘Say, ‘There is neither Might nor Strength except with Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup>, the Exalted, the Magnificent. I rely upon the Living Who will not be dying, and the Praise is for Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Who neither Took a female companion, nor a son, and there does not happent to be an associate for Him<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> in the Kingdom, and there does not happen to be a guardian for Him<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> from the disgrace, and I exclaim Greatness to Him with an exclamation’. He<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘So it was not long before he returned to the Prophet<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup> and he said, ‘O Rasool-Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">saww</sup>! Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> has Removed from me, the illness and the poverty’’.
