سَأَلْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) دُعَاءً وَ أَنَا خَلْفَهُ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ وَ اسْمِكَ الْعَظِيمِ وَ بِعِزَّتِكَ الَّتِي لَا تُرَامُ وَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ الَّتِي لَا يَمْتَنِعُ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ أَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِي كَذَا وَ كَذَا قَالَ وَ كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ رُقْعَةً بِخَطِّهِ قُلْ يَا مَنْ عَلَا فَقَهَرَ وَ بَطَنَ فَخَبَرَ يَا مَنْ مَلَكَ فَقَدَرَ وَ يَا مَنْ يُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى وَ هُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ افْعَلْ بِي كَذَا وَ كَذَا ثُمَّ قُلْ يَا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ارْحَمْنِي بِحَقِّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ارْحَمْنِي وَ كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ فِي رُقْعَةٍ أُخْرَى يَأْمُرُنِي أَنْ أَقُولَ اللَّهُمَّ ادْفَعْ عَنِّي بِحَوْلِكَ وَ قُوَّتِكَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ فِي يَوْمِي هَذَا وَ شَهْرِي هَذَا وَ عَامِي هَذَا بَرَكَاتِكَ فِيهَا وَ مَا يَنْزِلُ فِيهَا مِنْ عُقُوبَةٍ أَوْ مَكْرُوهٍ أَوْ بَلَاءٍ فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَ عَنْ وُلْدِي بِحَوْلِكَ وَ قُوَّتِكَ إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ وَ تَحْوِيلِ عَافِيَتِكَ وَ مِنْ فَجْأَةِ نَقِمَتِكَ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كِتَابٍ قَدْ سَبَقَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَابَّةٍ أَنْتَ آخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ وَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ أَحَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِلْماً وَ أَحْصَى كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عَدَداً .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Husayn who said, ‘I asked Abu Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup> for a supplication and I was behind him<sup>asws</sup>. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘O Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! I<sup>asws</sup> ask You<sup>azwj</sup> by Your<sup>azwj</sup> Benevolent Face, and Your<sup>azwj</sup> Magnificent Name, and by Your<sup>azwj</sup> Might which cannot be matched, and by Your<sup>azwj</sup> Power which nothing can be prevented from, that You<sup>azwj</sup> should do such and such with me’’. He (the narrator) said, ‘And he<sup>asws</sup> wrote a letter to be in his<sup>asws</sup> own handwriting: ‘Say, ‘O One is Exalted, so is Dominant, and is Hidden, so is Informed. O the One Who is King, so is Powerful, and O the One who Revives the dead and He<sup>azwj</sup> is Able upon everything, Send <span class="iTxt">Salawāt</span> upon Muhammad<sup>saww</sup> and the Progeny<sup>asws</sup>of Muhammad<sup>saww</sup>, and Do for me such and such’. Then say, ‘O There is no god except for Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, by the right of ‘There is no god except Allah<sup>azwj</sup>’, have Mercy on me’. And he<sup>asws</sup> wrote another letter to me, instructing me that I should be saying, ‘O Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! Defend from me by Your<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Your<sup>azwj</sup> Strength. I ask You<sup>azwj</sup> during this day of mine, and this month of mine, and this year of mine, for Your<sup>azwj</sup> Blessings therein, and whatever is to descend therein from a Punishment, or an abhorrence, or an affliction, so Exchange it from me and from my children by Your<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Your<sup>azwj</sup> Strength. You<sup>azwj</sup> are Able upon everything. O Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! I seek Refuge with You<sup>azwj</sup> from the decline of Your<sup>azwj</sup> Bounties, and the alteration of Your<sup>azwj</sup> good health, and from the suddenness of Your<sup>azwj</sup> Curse, and from the evil of the writing (of my deeds) which have preceded. O Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! I seek Refuge with You<sup>azwj</sup> from the evil of myself, and from the evil of every animal, You<sup>azwj</sup> are the Seizer of its forelock. You<sup>azwj</sup> are Able upon everything, and that Allah<sup>azwj</sup> has Encompassed with everything in Knowledge, and Counted everything with a numbering’.
