John Shaqi

قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) لَقَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ بِكَلِمَتَيْنِ دَعَا بِهِمَا قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ تُعَذِّبْنِي فَأَهْلٌ لِذَلِكَ أَنَا وَ إِنْ تَغْفِرْ لِي فَأَهْلٌ لِذَلِكَ أَنْتَ فَغَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ .


Translation

From him, from Ibn Mahboub, from Aban, from Abdul Rahman Bin Ayn who said, ‘Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic had Forgiven a man from the people of the valleys due to two phrases he supplicated with. He said, ‘O Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! If You<sup>azwj</sup> were to Punish me, so I am deserving of that, and if You<sup>azwj</sup> were to Forgive me, so You<sup>azwj</sup> are Rightful with it’. So Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Forgave him’.
