رَأَيْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليه السلام ) فِي فِنَاءِ الْكَعْبَةِ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَ هُوَ يُصَلِّي فَأَطَالَ الْقِيَامَ حَتَّى جَعَلَ مَرَّةً يَتَوَكَّأُ عَلَى رِجْلِهِ الْيُمْنَى وَ مَرَّةً عَلَى رِجْلِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثُمَّ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ بِصَوْتٍ كَأَنَّهُ بَاكٍ يَا سَيِّدِي تُعَذِّبُنِي وَ حُبُّكَ فِي قَلْبِي أَمَا وَ عِزَّتِكَ لَئِنْ فَعَلْتَ لَتَجْمَعَنَّ بَيْنِي وَ بَيْنَ قَوْمٍ طَالَ مَا عَادَيْتُهُمْ فِيكَ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Muhammad Bin Abu Hamza, from his father who said, ‘I saw Ali<sup>asws</sup> Bin Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup> in the courtyard of the Kabah during the night and he<sup>asws</sup> was praying <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span>, and he<sup>asws</sup> prolonged the standing until he repeatedly leaned upon his<sup>asws</sup> right leg, and at times upon his<sup>asws</sup> left leg. Then I heard him<sup>asws</sup> saying in a voice as if he<sup>asws</sup> was crying. (The suppliction is): ‘O my Master! Will You<sup>azwj</sup> Punish me while Your<sup>azwj</sup> Love is in my<sup>asws</sup> heart? But, by Your<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty, if You<sup>azwj</sup> Do so, You<sup>azwj</sup> would be Gathering between me<sup>asws</sup> and the group of people with whom I<sup>asws</sup> have prolonged being their enemy for Your<sup>azwj</sup> Sake’’.
