ہمارے بہت سے اصحاب نے احمد بن محمد بن خالد سے، انہوں نے عمرو بن عثمان سے، انہوں نے محمد بن سالم الکندی سے، انہوں نے جس نے انہیں حدیث بیان کی اس سے، انہوں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے فرمایا: امیر المؤمنین علیہ السلام جب بھی منبر پر تشریف لاتے تو فرماتے: مسلمان کے لیے مناسب ہے کہ وہ تین قسم کے لوگوں سے دوستی سے بچے: ماجن فاجر، احمق، اور کذاب۔ جہاں تک ماجن فاجر کا تعلق ہے، وہ تمہارے سامنے اپنے کام کو خوبصورت بناتا ہے اور چاہتا ہے کہ تم بھی اس جیسے ہو جاؤ، اور وہ تمہارے دین اور آخرت کے معاملات میں تمہاری مدد نہیں کرتا؛ اس کی قربت جفا اور سختی ہے، اور اس کا آنا جانا تمہارے لیے عار ہے۔ جہاں تک احمق کا تعلق ہے، وہ نہ تمہیں بھلائی کی طرف رہنمائی کرتا ہے اور نہ ہی تم سے برائی دور کرنے کی امید رکھی جا سکتی ہے، چاہے وہ خود کو کتنی ہی زحمت دے؛ کبھی کبھی وہ تمہارا فائدہ چاہتا ہے لیکن نقصان پہنچا دیتا ہے۔ پس اس کی موت اس کی زندگی سے بہتر ہے، اس کی خاموشی اس کی گفتگو سے بہتر ہے، اور اس سے دوری اس کی قربت سے بہتر ہے۔ جہاں تک کذاب کا تعلق ہے، اس کے ساتھ زندگی گوارا نہیں: وہ تمہاری باتیں دوسروں کو پہنچاتا ہے اور دوسروں کی باتیں تمہارے پاس لاتا ہے؛ جب بھی کوئی گپ ختم ہوتی ہے تو اسی جیسی دوسری گپ چھوڑ دیتا ہے، یہاں تک کہ جب وہ سچ بولتا ہے تب بھی اس پر یقین نہیں کیا جاتا، اور وہ دشمنی سے لوگوں میں پھوٹ ڈالتا ہے اور سینوں میں کینہ بوتا ہے۔ پس اللہ عز و جل سے ڈرو اور اپنے آپ کا خیال رکھو۔

Translation

A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Imran Bin Usman, from Muhammad Bin Salim Al Kindy, from the one who narrated it, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah^asws having said: ‘It was so that when Amir Al-Momineen^asws ascended the Pulpit, said: ‘It is befitting for the Muslim that he keeps aside from establishing brotherhood with three – the shameless immoral, and the idiot, and the liar. So, as for the shameless immoral one, so he would decorate his deed to you and he would love it if you were like him, and he would not assist you upon a matter of your Religion and your Hereafter; and his closeness is aversion, and harshness, and his entry and his exit (from your presence) would be a discredit upon you. And as for the idiot, so he would neither indicate upon you with goodness, nor would he hope for the repelling of the evil from you; and if he were to exert himself and sometimes intends to benefit you, so he would harm you (instead). Thus, his death would be better than his life, and his silence would be better than his speaking, and his remoteness would be better than his closeness. And as for the liar, for the life would not be pleasant with him. He would transmit your narration (to others) and he would bring the narrations (of the others) to you. Every time his discussion runs out, he would mingle it with another one similar to it, to the extent that (when) he does narrate with the truthfulness, so he would not be believed, and he would (end up) effecting separation between the people with the enmity, as he would be sowing the hatred in the chests. Therefore, fear Allah^azwj Mighty and Majestic, and watch out for yourselves’.
