إِذَا سَلَّمَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْهَرْ بِسَلَامِهِ لَا يَقُولُ سَلَّمْتُ فَلَمْ يَرُدُّوا عَلَيَّ وَ لَعَلَّهُ يَكُونُ قَدْ سَلَّمَ وَ لَمْ يُسْمِعْهُمْ فَإِذَا رَدَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَجْهَرْ بِرَدِّهِ وَ لَا يَقُولُ الْمُسَلِّمُ سَلَّمْتُ فَلَمْ يَرُدُّوا عَلَيَّ ثُمَّ قَالَ كَانَ عَلِيٌّ ( عليه السلام ) يَقُولُ لَا تَغْضَبُوا وَ لَا تُغْضِبُوا أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ وَ أَطِيبُوا الْكَلَامَ وَ صَلُّوا بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّاسُ نِيَامٌ تَدْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ بِسَلَامٍ ثُمَّ تَلَا ( عليه السلام ) عَلَيْهِمْ قَوْلَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ السَّلامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ .

جب تم میں سے کوئی سلام کرے تو بلند آواز سے سلام کرے۔ وہ یہ نہ کہے کہ 'میں نے سلام کیا لیکن انہوں نے جواب نہیں دیا'، شاید اس نے سلام کیا ہو لیکن انہیں سنائی نہ دیا ہو۔ جب تم میں سے کوئی جواب دے تو بلند آواز سے جواب دے، اور سلام کرنے والا یہ نہ کہے کہ 'میں نے سلام کیا لیکن انہوں نے جواب نہیں دیا'۔ پھر فرمایا: علی علیہ السلام فرمایا کرتے تھے: 'نہ غصہ ہو اور نہ غصہ دلاؤ، سلام کو پھیلاؤ، کلام کو اچھا بناؤ، رات کو نماز پڑھو جب لوگ سو رہے ہوں، تم جنت میں سلامتی کے ساتھ داخل ہو جاؤ گے'۔ پھر آپ علیہ السلام نے ان کے سامنے اللہ عزوجل کا یہ قول تلاوت فرمایا: السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ [59:23]۔
Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ja’far Bin Muhammad Al Ashary, from Ibn Al Qaddah, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Whenever one of you greets (السَّلَامُ), so let him be loud with his greeting. He should not be saying, ‘I greeted but he did not respond to me’, and perhaps he may have greeted and he did not hear it. So whenever one of you responds, so let him be loud with his response, and the one greeting one should not be saying, ‘I greeted, but he did not respond to me’. Then he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> said: ‘It was so that Ali<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> was saying: ‘Neither get angry nor anger (others). Openly offer the greetings (loudly) and be nice with your speech, and pray <span class="iTxt">Salāt</span> at nights while the people are sleeping, you would be entering the Paradise in safety’. Then he<sup style="font-weight: normal">asws</sup> recited the Words of Allah<sup style="font-weight: normal">azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:59#h23"><a href="/books/quran:59#h23">[59:23]</a></a> the Giver of peace, the Granter of security, Guardian over all</span>’.
