Al-Kafi 4142

Translation

Abu Ali Al Ashary, from one of our companions, from Ismail Bin Mihran, from Sabbah Al Haza’a, from Sama’at who said, ‘I was in the presence of Abu Al-Hassan^asws. So he^asws prayed Al-Zohar and Al-Asr <span class="iTxt">Salaat</span>s in front of me, and I sat in his^asws present until the Maghrib <span class="iTxt">Salaat</span> presented itself. So he^asws called for the Ablution <span class="iTxt">(Wudhu)</span> and he^asws performed the Ablution <span class="iTxt">(Wudhu)</span> for the <span class="iTxt">Salaat</span>, then said to me: ‘Perform Ablution <span class="iTxt">(Wudhu)</span>’. So I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you^asws! I am already upon my Ablution <span class="iTxt">(Wudhu)</span>’’. So he^asws said: ‘And even if you were upon an Ablution <span class="iTxt">(Wudhu)</span>. It is from the reverence of the Maghrib (<span class="iTxt">Salaat</span>) is its Ablution <span class="iTxt">(Wudhu)</span>. That would be an expiation for whatever has passed from his sins during his day, except for the major sins. And the one who perform Ablution <span class="iTxt">(Wudhu)</span> for the morning (<span class="iTxt">Salaat</span>), that Ablution <span class="iTxt">(Wudhu)</span> of his would be an expiation for whatever had passed from his sins during his night except for the major sins’.
